About Bull

I was born in Chapel Hill, NC…a stone’s throw away from Durham and their somewhat legendary farm league baseball team, the Bulls, and the subject of the great film, Bull Durham.  Add to that my name, Tyler Durham, and I suppose it should have come as no surprise that “Bull” became my nickname early in life and was reinforced during my service in the U.S. Army.  I was headstrong and called it like I saw it. An alternative view might be that I was obstinate…but I’ll stick with the former.  Not much has changed, although I’ve become more diplomatic with how I call it.

Perhaps it’s fitting that my passion for change, leadership and how organizations work was inspired by my time as an officer in the Army helping to transform Bosnia-Herzegovina from a warring country to a peaceful, democratic nation in ten months.  I was inspired early by the power of humans to achieve extraordinary feats and learned what it takes to make change happen in the real world under the most demanding circumstances.

I currently am the Managing Director of Ketchum Pleon Change, the change management, employee engagement and workforce communications consultancy of Ketchum. I started my consulting career with Deloitte Consulting and led change, communication and leadership programs for global mergers and acquisitions.

I received my MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and a BA in History from Wake Forest University.

I remain bullish about the possibilities for humans and organizations to change and grow so thanks for checking out my blog…there’s too much changing in the world, and human behavior is too fascinating (and often funny) to not share a little bit of it.
